Mechanical engineering is the discipline of engineering that applies the principles of engineering, physics, materials science, and mathematics. In other words, it’s the branch of engineering that deals with the design, analysis, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems.
Entry Qualifications for Mechanical Engineering Course
1. Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering
For Holders of Form Six Qualifications: Two principal passes in Physics and Advanced
Mathematics. An applicant must have at least a pass in Basic Mathematics and Physics at O – Level.
For Holders of Ordinary Diploma or Equivalent Qualifications: Diploma or Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, AutoElectric and Electronics Engineering, Automobile or Air Craft Maintenance with an average of “B’’ or a minimum GPA of 3.0 with at least four passes in non-religious subjects at O-Level including Basic Mathematics and Physics.
Diploma of Mechanical Engineering
Possession of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with a pass in at least four (4) non-Religious subjects, three of which must be Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
OR
Possession of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) from Technical Secondary Schools with a pass in at least four (4) non-Religious subjects, three of which must be Mathematics, Engineering Science, Chemistry and any one of the following subjects: Architectural Drafting/Building Construction, Electrical Engineering Science/Electrical Drafting, Workshop Technology/Mechanical Drafting.
OR
Possession of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with a pass in at least four (4) non-Religious subjects, two must be among the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with possession of TRADE TEST GRADE I / NVA LEVEL III issued by VETA.
