What are the minimum requirements for Nursing certificate, diploma and degree in Tanzania. Nursing course focus on the in-depth knowledge & training to become a nurse. It plays an important role in hospitals, healthcare sectors, clinics, and community health centres. Nurses assist doctors and provide care to patients at various stages.
Minimum requirements for Nursing course
1. Certificate in Nursing (NTA level 4-5)
Entry requirements: Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE), with four 4 in non-religious subjects including C – Chemistry and Biology, D-Physics/Engineering Sciences and English Language. Pass in Basic Mathematics is an added advantage.
Duration of the programme is 2 years.
2. Diploma in Nursing (NTA Level 4-6) Pre-service
Entry requirements: Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE), with 4 passes in non-religious subjects including C – Chemistry and Biology, D – Physics/Engineering Sciences and English Language. Pass in Basic Mathematics is an added advantage.
Duration of the programme is 3 years.
3. Diploma in Nursing In- service
Entry Requirements: Holders of Technician Certificate (NTA level 5) in Nursing, Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with D – Biology, Chemistry or Physics.
Duration of the programme is 2 years
4. Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Direct entry: Three principal passes in Chemistry, Biology and either Physics or Mathematics or Nutrition with a minimum of 6 points; i.e. an applicant must have at least C grade in Chemistry and at least D grade in Biology and E grade in Physics or Mathematics or Nutrition.
Equivalent entry: Diploma in Nursing with an average of “B’’ or a minimum GPA of 3.0. In addition, an applicant must have a minimum of “D” grade in the following subjects: Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and English at O-Level.
Duration of the programme is 4 years
