TEACHERS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME (TSP) – 50% TUITION FEE WAIVER

The 50% waiver will cover ONLY the tuition fee for all courses one registers for in 2024/25 for all pro- grammes covered under this schol-
arship, i.e. diploma or bachelor’s degree.

The Open University of Tanzania (OUT) is geared to support the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania in increasing access to affordable quality higher educa- tion to in-service teachers at their localities.

The aim of the TSP scheme is to enhance human resource capacity to meet the re- quired knowledge, skills, and competencies to support reforms in the country’s educa- tion sector. As an open and online learning institution, OUT can reach students within their localities without interfering with their day-to-day social and economic activities.

1. Eligibility Criteria

A beneficiary must be a teacher by profession, teaching in a public pri- mary or secondary school.

The teachers must be vetted and approved by the employer from their respective District or Municipality in accordance with their employer’s staff development schemes.

The applicants must meet the re- quired entry qualification for the relevant diploma or degree pro- gramme of their choice offered by the University.

The successful applicants will be ex- empted from 50% of the tuition fee for the 2024/25 academic year but will be required to pay all the non-tu- ition fees such as examination, reg- istration, Open University Student Organization (OUTSO), student identity card, graduation, transcripts.

2. Application Procedures

The scholarship applicant must have been selected in the relevant programme.

The scholarship application formscan be collected from any OUT Re- gional Centre.

The filled-in scholarship application form must be endorsed by the em- ployer (District Executive Director).

Complete forms must be submitted to the respective Director of the Re- gional Centre.

Successful awardees will be in- formed by letters.

3. Deadline for Scholarship Applications for 2024/25 Academic Year

The deadline for the April Intake of ac- ademic year 2024/25 is on March 31, 2025
